As summer arrives, we are thrilled to announce some exciting new changes in Old Oakland!
Long time tenant, B Restaurant has closed for business in Oakland. Although we are sad to see them leave, we are looking forward to welcoming a new Italian Bistro, Borgo Italia! We are VERY excited for this new venture and look forward to delicious, authentic food. Two of the three owners, along with Paul Ferrari of Ferrari Foods, arrive straight from Italy and will create delectable, tasty dishes. They will be working in the space over the next 2 months, changing decor and creating a new atmosphere. Borgo Italia will open in late summer and serve Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
We are also excited to announche that three out of four of the popuphood tenants will remain on in Old Oakland! We are happy to welcome Crown Nine, Marion and Rose’s workshop and Piper John Goods, all of which were part of popuphood revitalization project!
We also have the honor in welcoming Sherri McMullen and McMullen Boutique. Sherri has a current location on Grand Avenue, specializing in savvy pieces for the modern woman. She will sell stylish, feminine frocks that are unique and timeless. A shop filled with beautiful jewelry, handbags, unique gifts, and, of course, clothing. Impeccable customer service, personal attention, and community. You can visit her website at http://www.shopmcmullen.com/. Sherri is scheduled to open July 1st.
Old Oakland will also welcome UNAMIMART mid-summer. Kayoko and Yoko launched the Unamimart shop online in 2010 selling high-quality kitchen and barware from Japan. They also write a weekly column on UNAMIMART.com called “Japanify” which teaches readers how to make Japanese food in an American kitchen! More information about their products can be found at http://www.umamimart.com/.
We are also happy to welcome Art House which has landed in Oakland from Brooklyn for the month of June in the old Chronicle space. The entrance is located in the main parking lot and Art House is an independent Brooklyn-based company that organizes global, collaborative art projects. Their flagship endeavor is the Sketchbook Project: an evolving library that features more than 18,000 artists’ books contributed by creative people from 130+ countries. Please be sure to visit them this month before they leave! http://www.arthousecoop.com/
We are looking forward to the new tenant mix and the vibrant energy it will bring to Old Oakland!
